ARIAS: Katharine von Maydell Memorial Summer Study Abroad Award
This award was established in 2009 to provide financial support to a qualified opera student enrolled at the Opera Division - Faculty of Music, University of Toronto for a summer opera training programme outside of Canada.
For over 21 years, Katharine von Maydell was a committed member and a vital part of the Canadian Opera Volunteer Committee. During that time, she served on many diverse committees playing a leading role in many different aspects of our organization, from archivist, to Chair of Membership & Blue Book to Chair of the Opera Shop. Katharine's love of opera was apparent not only in her knowledgeable purchases for the Opera Shop but also in her enthusiastic support of both the Canadian Opera Company and the students at the Opera Division - Faculty of Music, University of Toronto.
The von Maydell family; Erik, Christine and Mark have generously committed to continuing this award in Katharine’s memory.
The value of this award is $4,000.
